Cantine San Giorgio and Jonian Dolphin Conservation in Rome to Present the Confindustria Ambassador 2026 Project

On June 15, Claudio Sembenini, Director of Cantine San Giorgio, and Carmelo Fanizza, founder of Jonian Dolphin Conservation, were welcomed at Confindustria’s national headquarters in Rome to present the project that has led them to be selected as Ambassadors 2026 for Confindustria Taranto.

The Ambassador initiative was created to highlight business stories that generate a positive impact on their communities, showcasing projects that combine innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility.

During the event in Rome, Sembenini and Fanizza presented the partnership developed over the years between Cantine San Giorgio and Jonian Dolphin Conservation. Established in 2020, the collaboration aims to support scientific research and the protection of cetaceans living in the Gulf of Taranto, while raising awareness about the importance of preserving the marine biodiversity of the Ionian Sea.

This partnership is a concrete example of how businesses and research organizations can work together to promote their territory and safeguard its natural heritage. Over the years, the collaboration has also led to the creation of a dedicated wine range inspired by the cetaceans monitored by Jonian Dolphin Conservation, helping support the association’s research and conservation activities.

Being selected as Confindustria Ambassadors 2026 means becoming representatives of a story that can inspire other organizations across Italy, demonstrating that economic growth can go hand in hand with environmental stewardship and the enhancement of local excellence.

The June 15 meeting in Rome marked an important opportunity to share this experience on a national stage and represented recognition of a journey built through the collaboration of two organizations deeply connected to the Ionian territory and united by a commitment to a more sustainable future.

For Cantine San Giorgio, this achievement confirms a mission that goes beyond wine production: promoting the territory, supporting environmental conservation projects, and fostering a culture of sustainability that benefits communities, businesses, and future generations.
