May on Lake Garda: our recommendations

Lake Garda is truly beautiful in May: a light breeze, flower beds in full boom and not as crowded with tourists – we definitely recommend a spring visit to the Lake!

You can in fact enjoy many experiences: from picnics on the beach (in the sun on the convenient grassy areas of the beaches) to bike rides or hikes.

For a picnic on the beach, we certainly recommend the famous Bardolino – Garda walk, which starts from the harbour and continues north along the lake towards Garda. You walk past Rocca di Garda and reach the town, which is nestled in an evocative gulf. You can see Punta San Vigilio in the distance, which is definitely worth a visit!

The walk between Peschiera and Lazise  is slightly more demanding (due to its length), which follows the coast to admire the south part of the lake. You can start from Porta Verona, cross the bridge and bear left along via Lungolago Porto Esterno towards the lake. From here, continue along the easy pedestrian path as far as Lazise.

Bike enthusiasts cannot miss the suspended cycle path in Limone sul Garda, on the Brescia side of the Lake. From the Limone lakefront, you proceed north leaving the town behind you and continue slightly uphill to reach strada Gardesana. The famous cycle path starts here, continuously flat for over two kilometres offering breathtaking views over Lake Garda and Mount Baldo. The path winds its way keeping in contact with the rockface and the lake waters. Once in Limone, make sure to visit the town, which is a real gem with its flowered balconies and the famous Limonaia del Castèl.

An activity not to miss out on is definitely that of the Tinazzi Cooking Class in our magnificent Tenuta Valleselle in Bardolino.
