Cantina San Giorgio supports Jonian Dolphin Conservation

The partnership between our Apulian wine-cellar San Giorgio and the Jonian Dolphin Conservation, an organization for the safeguarding of cetaceans in the Gulf of Taranto, continues for another year.

The aim of the Jonian Dolphin Conservation is to inform tourists and visitors as much as possible about local excellencies while respecting environmental sustainability.

Thanks to the “Researcher for a day” project of the Jonian Dolphin Conservation, an organization set up by President Carmelo Fanizza, the scientific research activity aimed at studying and safeguarding cetaceans in the Gulf of Taranto and the northern Ionian Sea remains constant, aboard the catamarans Taras and Extraordinaria.

In addition to spending a wonderful day at sea, those who take part in this excursion can experience the thrill of being involved in all stages of the research, from the sighting of cetaceans to the collection of data together with biologists, veterinarians and researchers who will explain the marine world.

Our wines from Cantina San Giorgio – white, rosé or red to be served chilled – accompany the “Researcher for a day” catamaran tours and are served in eco-friendly cups to safeguard the environment and avoid producing waste.

This year, we have some news as well: every Wednesday, guests from the MSC Seaside cruise ship will be able to take part in the catamaran tours to get to know Taranto from the sea while savouring wine directly on board.

Tours are organized every day throughout the summer. For further information and bookings: https://www.joniandolphin.it/wordpress/2017/prenota/.
