Negroamaro Salento Megale Igp 2019 from our Apulian Feudo Croce range obtained the Top Hundred 2020, Selezione dei 100 Migliori Vini d’Italia recognition by Il Golosario guide.
The selection of the best Italian wines signed by Paolo Massobrio and Marco Gatti is now 18 years old and has confirmed itself as one of the most long-standing and interesting on the national scene. The merit is mainly from a formula that, over the years, enabled a deep knowledge of the territories, discovering some real gems.
The chosen criteria, in fact, identifies each year 100 cellars each year that deserve the award, without ever choosing the winners from previous years. Then there are also the Fuori di top, i.e. cellars – mainly small ones and often new ones – with exceptional wines discovered when closing the selection carried out with collective tastings. This edition featured 28 wines promoted directly or by Massobrio or Gatti, without passing through plenary tastings.
Negroamaro Salento Megale:
100% Negroamaro del Salento, grapes from vineyards owned by the Tinazzi family in the Taranto province. They are selected and harvested by hand, then they are crushed and destemmed, macerated and fermented at a controlled temperature of 22-26°C for 8-10 days and soft pressed. Ageing is carried out in small barrels for 4/8 months. A deep red colour with a pleasant aroma made up of fruity and spicy hints of marasca cherries, plums and cinnamon. A structured wine with a 14% strength and a round, harmonic flavour, extremely pleasant to drink. Perfectly paired with robust first courses, roast meats and medium mature cheeses.
