Three silver medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards

We won three silver medals at the Decanter World Wine Awards!

Ca’ De’ Rocchi Amarone della Valpolicella Docg “La Bastia” 2016 – 92 points

Grapes – Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella – are harvested in early October. They are then taken to the Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella crushing cellar and stacked in special crates (plateaux) where they remain for the drying process until December. During this phase, grapes lose approximately 30% of their weight and sugar concentration is favoured thereby conveying more body and structure to the wine. Crushing and destemming follows, with maceration and fermentation at a controlled temperature and ageing in 5-20-40hl French and American oak barrels for 12-24 months. A deep red colour with garnet highlights, complex aroma with notes of red fruits such as plums and cherries, spicy hints and a balsamic vein with slight traces of chocolate. Wide and articulated palate with a good structure. Particularly indicated with stewed, roast and braised meats accompanied by polenta. Also ideal with grilled red meat and mature cheeses.

Tinazzi Opera N°3 2017 – 91 points

Three characteristics, one masterpiece. Obtained from a blend of prestigious red grapes, it is a wine characterised by three distinct qualities: full body, elegance and intensity. With a deep red colour, it has an aroma of ripe red fruits with spicy notes enveloped in a hint of chocolate and liquorice. This wine, explosive on the palate with an excellent balance and persistence, is Tinazzi’s forte on all global markets. Particularly suitable with stewed, grilled and roast meats. Also ideal with very mature cheeses.

Tenuta Valleselle Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Dop “Rovertondo” 2018 – 90 points

Blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, crushing and destemming is carried out in the Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella crushing cellar and is followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature for 8/10 days. In late December, the wine obtained is added (“ripassato”) to the freshly-pressed Amarone pomace rich in sugar to convey more body and structure to the wine. Ageing is carried out in 5-20-40hl French and American oak barrels for 12 months. A bright red colour, with an aroma of plums and black cherries well integrated with spicy toasted notes. Assertive palate with a balanced tannin. Particularly suitable for autumn risottos, pasta and beans and various meat dishes.
